Giliyang, an Island with Highest Oxygen Content in the World


Madura has group of islands with tourism place, which differ from others in Indonesia. The famous one is Giliyang, an island with highest oxygen in the world.

Distance between this island and Dungkek harbor is one-hour trip. This island is not very large. You can walk around the island with motorcycle in hour. Of course, it is sadly to leave the island in a moment because this island has amazing view.

Make a special time to enjoy the refreshing odor in Bukit Oksigen of Bancamara village. The valley with 32 meter above the sea has oxygen content 21, 5 percent. In average, oxygen content of the world is only 20, 9 percent. That the result of one study which done by Balai Besar Teknik Kesehatan Lingkungan and Pengendalian Penyakit Surabaya on May 2013.

When Jawa Pos crew visited the valley in the past of middle November, the condition is not good. The red ground that covered the valley does not grown by grass. Rocky appeared partially around the ground showed that dry season is going on. “But when rain was coming, the grass grow directly,” said the secretary of Bancamara village Mutawaji, 46.

Although the island wiped out impressively, the odor does not sting. Moreover, the windblown felt cool in the skin. The visitor can sit on traditional bed with excusive carved from Madura while looking the blue sea. Six beds bought by the staff of village and put on the valley with half-hectare expanse. 

The existence of the valley which has high oxygen content proven with the society with the old age. Data in the Banraas village estimated 20 persons more than 100 years old. The 90 years old there are 55 persons, while the age more than 80 years old 265 persons.
